NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Access via Shibboleth Now Available for US Institutions

To date, accessing SAGE Journals via Shibboleth has been available only for institutions in UK, France and Germany. Starting NOW, HighWire has made this available as well for institutions in the USA that are members of the InCommon federation. http://online.sagepub.com/cgi/shibboleth

View members of the Incommon Federation - http://www.incommon.org/participants/

"Shibboleth (federated access management) is one of several access control methods available for institutions to access SAGE Journals content online. In practical terms the advantage of using Shibboleth is that an authenticated network user may access online resources, both locally and externally, using a single sign on procedure. In addition, Shibboleth ensures security whilst protecting user privacy."

If you have any questions or require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via onlinesupportus@sagepub.com.

Call for Participation in LISU Research Project

'Working together: evolving value for academic libraries' is a research project, commissioned by SAGE Publications Ltd, aiming to investigate the value of academic libraries for academic departments. We have appointed LISU to undertake the research in December 2011.

The value of libraries has become an important focus for research in recent years. In an increasingly tough climate for many libraries around the world, being able to demonstrate impact and value is crucial.

One of the key areas the project team intends to explore is the value of academic libraries to academic departments and how this can be improved. The objective of the project is to provide the academic library community with a better understanding of the connections between academic libraries and academic departments and to identify practical ways to enhance their working relationship. Read more about the project.

Do you want to participate?

We are looking for higher education libraries, particularly in the US, UK and in Scandinavia, which are delivering exceptionally good and/or innovative support services to research and teaching staff. Contact us here to get involved!
