The text also provides a unique vignette on the story of Karla and Diana, two childhood friends whose lives take a dramatic turn throughout different aspects of the criminal justice system. This vignette, a composite of many subjects and case studies from the authors' research and field experiences, highlights many of the major concepts for each chapter.
