2011 Primary Curriculum for England
Following the public consultation by QCDA on the review by Sir Jim Rose, on 19 November 2009 Labour announced their new primary curriculum, to be taught in schools from September 2011. The new coalition government immediately scrapped this curriculum. The Rose Review final report, the announcement details of their curriculum, including the programmes of study for Mathematical Understanding and the other areas of learning, can all be accessed at: www.dcsf.gov.uk/newprimarycurriculum

Mathematics Level Descriptions
Level descriptions for mathematics, for each of the attainment targets for mathematics and covering levels 1–8 and exceptional performance, can be downloaded at: www.qcda.gov.uk/22305.aspx. These are used as the basis for assessment of achievement in national tests and are also to be used by teachers in making their own assessments of their pupils’ progress.

Primary Mathematics National Strategy
Currently many primary schools plan their mathematics curriculum using the framework and materials provided by the National Strategy. It is possible that those who have invested heavily in this framework will continue to use it to deliver the primary curriculum regardless of any changes made by the government.
